"PTE" stands for the Proficiency Test of English. It is a proficiency test for people whose native language is not English, but it tests proficiency at all levels—from beginning to advanced. It is expanded by P4TK (Language Divison Center for Development and Empowerment of Teachers and Education Personnel) Sawangan Jakarta. This time, SMKN 3 Metro within approximately 396 students took a part of the test. It took place on Sunday, 2nd August 2009 at 8 - 12 am. The students are from 213 of Xth and 183 of XIth grade. We are sure that PTE improves students' English skills. In general, the PTE questions are developed from samples of spoken and written language collected from various countries around the world where English is used in the workplace.  Test questions include many different settings and situations such as General Business, Finance, Corporate development, Science & Technology, Telecommunications and Tourism. While the language from these settings provides the context for the test questions, examinees are not required to know specialized business and technical vocabulary. The PTE consists of two sections; Listening and Reading. The Listening section consists four parts; Pictures, Questions and Responses, Short Conversation, and Short Talks. And the Reading section also consists four parts; Incomplete Sentences, Error Recognition, Punctuation, and Reading Comprehension.
